Anchors

Day 169 - 19/06/2010

The Tokico brakes on the Akai Onna. Most people don't understand or fully realize how powerful a sportsbike braking really is (even in the wet). These powerful anchors are capable of stopping the moving mass of 280kg (rider and bike) from over 180km/h to a dead stop in less time than most sportscars. Granted modern ultra-sportcars have ceramic discs, massive tires and air-braking to out perform anything on two wheels, but a fully seasoned rider, coupled with "response time" can typically out brake and out accelerate most four wheeled vehicles only by using the front stoppers. Future technologies will introduce better braking distribution and disc compounds that will yet again push these boundaries.
